What can you expect to learn from a Riding and Competition Internship at Fell-Vallee Equestrian Center? The candidate can expect to gain valuable insight in the day to day training of upper level competition horses all the way back to starting young mounts under saddle. Your day will consist of grooming and tacking the riding horses for the in-house trainer (Jamie Fell), warming up and/or cooling out and helping with the babies whether longing or the actual backing of the youngsters. It will be your responsibility to keep the show and sales horses looking their best by grooming, clipping and keeping tack clean. You will also be expected to help with the daily chores, either day or evening depending on the schedule and daily needs. You will have 1 day off each week. The work is hard, but the rewards are amazing!
You will receive at least 1 mounted lesson each day. If you choose to bring your own horse (if space allows), you will receive your lessons/training on your own horse. You will be responsible for the boarding costs of your horse/horses. The Internship provides the cost of daily lessons and training. You will have your own bedroom in an offsite house with our family and food will be provided each day. You will need to provide your own transportation.
I am looking for an intern who is starving to learn more about the care and training of competition mounts. This person will already have a working knowledge of riding sporthorses. A person with experience in dressage or eventing is asked to apply for this roll.
If you are interested in applying for an internship position at Fell-Vallee, please send me a cover letter (describing your abilities and what you hope to gain from the experience; please include start and end dates), your resume, and a video of your riding. You can email everything to [email protected]
